The most important thing about photography is the photography and not the photographer. The end result is what we are looking for, the photograph.

HISTORY: My passion for photography began in the early 1970's when I began to notice "this isn't a picture, this is photography". Shifting my efforts from mindless point & shoot to educating myself and applying the basic rules of photography led to results I was pleased with. Being my own worst critic contributed to my efforts with positive results. Years & thousands of shutter releases later my passion began to transform into my profession.

In the mid 1980's came the addition of a darkroom. I could no longer get the results I was pursuing with commercial photo labs. Then along came digital cameras. Now the cameras and the darkroom are all digital. Finally I have complete control of the photography workflow and creation.

EQUIPMENT: Exclusively using the latest top of the line professional camera, a Nikon D3. It has the new larger image sensor producing the quality of large format film. It is without a doubt the finest digital SLR camera on the market producing the highest quality photography possible, rich in clarity and color. Equally or more important than the camera body is the selection of the highest quality Nikon/Nikkor lenses. The imaging software I use is the industry standard, Adobe PhotoShop CS3.

AWARDS/PUBLISHED PHOTOS: Many of the photos from the Wildfires of Texas 2006 album were published on NBC/5 and CBS/11 in Dallas-Fort Worth. The Glass Cactus photograph was the winner of the Image of the Week with the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP). This is the world's largest organization of professional photographers with membership in over 100 countries. I contributed photography to the Hico Chamber of Commerce website A special thank you to the Sugar Moon Art Gallery for displaying my work in Hico. This photo was published on CBS/11 in Dallas-Fort Worth. KWTX/10 in Waco, Texas published this photo for October in their 2008 calendar. Two commercial photos in Biomass Magazine (July 2008) by BBI International.
